Letter P Book List
Panda Bear, Panda Bear, What Do You See? by Bill Martin Jr. & Eric Carle
This is a new spin on the classic Brown Bear, Brown Bear What do You see? This board book focuses on endangered animals with all of the rhythm and beautiful illustrations we love.
Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear? by Eric Carle
This is another spin on the original. Instead of focusing on the sense of sight it focuses on what we hear from animals your kiddos will love.
A Pizza the Size of the Sun by Jack Prelutsky
Jack Prelutsky is one 0f my favorite children’s poets. His poems are unique, silly, hilarious and perfect for all ages.
Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons by James Dean
Count along with Pete as he sings a song about the shirts on his button! This book is a great way to include some counting in your week.
Pancakes, Pancakes! by Eric Carle
Jack wants pancakes for breakfast, but his mother doesn’t have the ingredients. So, he sets out to gather them all and make his pancakes from scratch.
The Three Little Pigs by Paul Galdone
A classic and beautifully illustrated version of the three little pigs.
Pirate Boy by Eve Bunting
This is a sweet story about the fierce love of mamas. Danny ponders being a pirate. But, what if he didn’t like it? His mother reassures him over and over that she would go through any obstacle in her way to get to him.

Letter P Play Ideas
There are so many things that start with P that would be fun to do this week! Read poetry, play the piano together, paint pasta, play with playdough, make pancakes or pizza, or pretend to be a pilot on the way to Paris.
With all those options I wanted to find you a resource to help you make a quick costume for dramatic play this week. And, I found this fantastic 5-Minute Pirate Costume Video.
This pirate costume uses materials you probably already have around the house and it only takes a few minutes. Yay for quick and simple play ideas! Because nobody’s got time to Martha Stewart a kid’s costume. Am I right?;)
Below I’ve listed some other dramatic play ideas you could incorporate for a letter P week.
Dramatic Play Topic Ideas:
- Prince or Princess
- Police Officer
- President
- Paleontologist
- Pilot
- Post-Office
- Pizzaria
- Pastry Chef
- Concert Pianist
- Photographer
Also, be sure to check out my Pumpkin Pie Playdough recipe for some sensory fun this week. Or learn all about the Poinsettia plant with a hands-on Poinsettia Mini-Unit Study.
Have fun learning about Letter P this week!
