Why Use Vocabulary Word Cards?
Word cards are great for hanging up in your classroom, living room, or on the fridge. Referring to them quickly at different points throughout the day doesn’t add time or work to your schedule, but exposes your kiddos to new vocabulary.
However, if you’d like to incorporate vocabulary words into your day there are so many ways to do it. Below I’ve listed just a few ways to use these fall vocabulary words to help your kids become even more familiar with the terms in fun ways.
How to Use Word Cards
Here are a few ideas for using word cards in your homeschool:
- Print 2 sets of words and play memory with them.
- Print 2 sets of cards and play Go Fish with them.
- Use them in a writing center.
- Trace the words in a sand tray.
- Make the words out of playdough.
- Draw a fall scene including some of the fall vocabulary from the cards.
- Place the word cards in alphabetical order.
- Build your words outside using fall leaves, twigs, and other nature finds.
- Guess that word game:
- Place all the cards face down.
- Choose a card and try to define your word.
- Let the other person guess what word you’re holding.
