Ask any homeschool mom and she’ll tell you that it took her a while to find her groove when it came to homeschool planning.
It takes time to figure out how your family’s individual needs translate into a schedule. And, what works best for you probably isn’t what’s going to work for me or the other homeschool moms you know.
Hopefully, you’re able to find the perfect plan right away, but chances are you’ll have to try a few things out and tweak as you go. Just don’t be afraid to try something new or ditch your plan altogether if it’s not working. And remember, you don’t have to follow any system 100%. Just grab some new ideas and run with it. Try it out and use what works for you and your family.
This round-up is all about sharing as many different points of view on homeschool planning as I could. So, it’s filled with veteran homeschooler advice, tips, and how-tos for planning and scheduling your homeschool days, months, and year. All from other homeschooling mamas just like you, who’ve found what works for them.
Loop Scheduling
Tauna Meyer of Proverbial Homemaker is Using Rhythms & Routines for Homeschool Planning. Then she schedules her children’s assignments using Task Mangement with Loop Scheduling (Free Printables!).
I’m starting with this one because it’s the way I’ve been scheduling our days since I found this fabulous idea. It was specifically designed for Tauna’s type B personality, but this type A mama has found it so freeing.
I used to be so anxious about not getting to everything on my list each day until I read what Tauna’s been doing. And, I realized that I could loop through subjects instead of planning day by day, taking those feelings of daily to-do list defeat, away.
Year-Round Homeschooling Tips
Year-round homeschooling means you homeschool all year without the traditional summer break. It allows flexibility of when and how long you take breaks during the year. It allows for a much more relaxed schedule and less stress in your planning.

Thank you for this post. Very helpful. I have children that like schedules but need flex ability too.
Yes, Becka a schedule is something my children like as well, but it can be so hard to figure out a schedule that allows for interruptions and well… life. Tauna’s ideas are the best I’ve found for allowing flexibility in my homeschool days.
Thanks for all the tips. I am following you on facebook and looking forward to reading your posts though out the year.
