Letter T Play Ideas
Build a Train Track
There are so many frugal ways to build a train track and even a play train. Below are a few ways we’ve tried at home with frugal or recycled materials.
Use an empty soda sleeve to make a train. We made the one below by wrapping it in construction paper and adding colored circles to the side. Then, we added a toilet paper roll to the handle opening in the top to make a stack. Then, my daughter used cut strips of paper to make a train track by gluing them onto recycled cardboard.
Another easy way to make a train track is to grab a roll of masking tape and “build” a train track directly on the carpet. Rip off short pieces of tape and lay them down parallel to each other around the floor in whatever pattern you want your track to take. Then, provide some toy trains for your child to drive on the tracks. Or make your own from cardboard boxes.
Letter T Sensory Play Ideas
Try any of these fun Letter T sensory play ideas this week.
- Paint with a toothbrush
- Set up a tractor sensory bin with toy tractors for your child to push around dirt or mud
- Play with orange and black “tiger” playdough
- Make a tiger sensory bin using toy tigers, toy trees (or toilet paper tubes), and one of these, or a mixture, as bases:
- Orange and black strips of construction paper
- Dry black beans and red lentils (they look orange)
- Orange and black pompoms
Have fun learning about Letter T this week!
