Letter L Book List
Leo the Late Bloomer by Robert Kraus
Leo is always feeling behind! He never does anything when it’s expected and not when the other children do. He is a late bloomer. This book is a cute story that lets our kids know it’s ok to do things in their own time.
The Lorax by Dr. Seuss
The Lorax is a classic Dr. Seuss story. What I like about reading this book is that it’s a little different from some of Seuss’s other titles. It still rhymes, but it also has a deeper message about caring for our earth and being good stewards of the world we live in.
Love You Forever by Robert Munsch
A mama holds her son and oftly she sings to him:
“I’ll love you forever
I’ll like you for always
As long as I’m living
My baby you’ll be.”
I’m sure you remember this story from your childhood. And it probably can still make you cry. I tear up every time we read it. It simply outlines the beautiful and complex relationship between mother and son as it follows them through all the stages of life. It is simply beautiful and sad at the same time. And, a perfect story to share with our children.
Is Your Mama a Llama? by Deborah Guarino
This fun story uses humorous rhymes to help Lloyd the llama discover what kind of animal his mother is. Each part of the story has a new rhyme that will give your child a clue about a new animal and they can try to guess what it is before you turn the page. Love this story!
Ladybug Girl by David Soman
When Lulu puts on her ladybug costume she can conquer the world with her imagination.
The Lion and the Mouse by Jerry Pinkney
In this wordless picture book, a tiny mouse ends up helping the king of beasts. It is a retelling of the old Aesop fable and a great story for helping our children to think about the story and tell it in their own words.

Letter L Play Ideas
This week is a great time to play with Legos! We love Legos here and build with them often. They are the perfect open-ended toy that allow kids to use their imagination and be creative. There are literally endless ways to play with Lego Bricks.
Here are a few ideas this week:
- Try building a letter L with your Legos
- Try a Brick Building Challenge
- Build animals that start with L
- Build lunch, making sandwiches, fruit, and veggies
- Try sorting Lego bricks by color
- Or just play with your blocks and have fun!
Have fun learning about Letter L this week!
