We love coloring at our house. Of course, it’s fun, but it also gives my kids (and me;) a break from our regular work. And, gives us something relaxing and fun to do together.
It’s a chance to slow down and just talk to each other. I love the conversations I have with my kiddos while we’re all sitting around the table coloring.
Spring I Spy Coloring Pages
We’ve been racking up the fun springtime activities lately with our butterfly counting jar, Earth fraction puzzles, and spring vocabulary writing centers.
So, I decided to try something new. And, this week I made a set of spring I Spy coloring pages! I’ve never attempted making this kind of coloring page before. And, I have to say, it was a lot more work than I anticipated. But, totally worth it with all the coloring fun that followed!:)
I counted, recounted, and recounted again to make sure that they are accurate. I also colored the pages myself to make sure. Of course, to be honest, I totally wanted to color along with my kiddos;) But, I am human, so if you notice any mistakes please let me know so I can fix them.
I made three different coloring pages. They vary in difficulty with the hardest having the most and smallest images. And, the easiest having fewer and larger images. I was hoping to include as many age levels of kiddos with this one activity, so it would work with multi-age groups and families, like ours.
What Kids Learn Playing I Spy
We started our coloring pages outside and it was so windy I had to use clothespins to keep their pages from blowing away!
Both of my kiddos decided to tackle the hardest coloring page. So… they’re both still working on their pages! But, I love the patience it’s taking to work towards completion:)
And, of course, they’re learning so many other things as they go through the process of coloring this page.
Kids learn so much from playing I Spy. While coloring, your child will be practicing so many skills.
Here are just a few:
- Counting
- Observation skills
- Patience
- Fine Motor Skills
- New Vocabulary
- Matching Words to Images
- And, so much more!
